Programme Prioritaire de Recherche Autonomie
A program to strengthen interdisciplinary research on questions of autonomy (of elderly people or people with disabilities) for the purposes of supporting public decision-making.
Announced on February 11 , 2020 by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of the 5th National Disability Conference , the PPR Autonomy, led by the CNRS , has been deploying research financing and animation actions since 2021.
With a budget of 30 million euros , it pursues the ambition of contributing to the strengthening and development of French research in the field of autonomy (aging and disability), in close collaboration with stakeholders in responsible for financing and leading research.
Fund large-scale research projects
Four priority scientific challenges have been identified by the Scientific Council, which will guide the production of knowledge within the framework of calls for projects financed by the program:
- Challenge 1: define autonomy and the modalities of its understanding and measurement
- Challenge 2: study the design of public policies regarding autonomy on a national and international scale
- Challenge 3: questioning situations and experiences of empowerment and reduction of autonomy
- Challenge 4: study the design, reception and uses of innovative devices and experiments.
The National Research Agency (ANR), operator of the program, launches calls for projects.
In 2021, a first call was published concerning challenges 1 and 2, with a budget of €7,000,000 .Four projects were selected for funding. In 2022, a second call was published on challenges 3 and 4, with a budget of €19,000,000. Seven projects were selected for funding.
